The mission of the Memphis Association of Black Journalists, an affiliate of NABJ is to strengthen ties among African Americans in all media; to sensitize the media to racism in news coverage; to promote and expand fair, balanced coverage of the black community and experience; to encourage and work with students to identify careers in journalism; to expand job opportunities for black journalists; to exemplify and honor excellence and outstanding achievement among African American journalists.
