  Congratualtions to MABJ Member Gwendolyn McClain for her new position with Shelby County Government. Gwen is now the director of Communications and Public Affairs for Shelby County Mayor AC Wharton. She was formerly with the Public Relations Department at Saint Francis Hospital. Congrats Gwen!

Congrats to Ben Watson of  WMC TV Action News 5 for winning first place in the 2005 NABJ Salute to Excellence Awards.  Ben’s report on “Black Farmers and Discrimination” won in the Television-News/Short Form category.  Way to go Ben!

Congrats to Terrence Bates of WPTY ABC 24/WLMT UPN  30.  Terrence has been named weekend news co-anchor.  Terrence is already an award winning reporter for his station.  Congrats Terrence!

Congrats to MABJ member Gwendolyn McClain in Saint Francis Hospital’s Public Relations Department.  In July of 2005, Gwen won the “Top 50 Women Who Make A Difference” award given by Memphis Woman Magazine.  In October, Gwen also won the “Top 40 Under 40” award given by the Memphis Business Journal. Not only is Gwen a great MABJ member, she is also very active in the community.  Thanks for all you do Gwen…and a big Congrats!
