Welcome to Memphis Association of Black Journalists Online!
Thanks for visiting the Memphis Association of Black Journalists website. MABJ is committed to helping future careers of print, broadcast and internet journalists. We also believe it is our duty to promote accurate portrayal of African Americans in the media. As journalists we are passionate about the written and spoken word. MABJ works to encourage journalists to use those tools accurately and fairly to help promote unbiased coverage of community issues.
MABJ is also committed to helping future African American journalists reach their full potential. The organization offers annual scholarships to print and broadcast students attending area colleges. We also sponsor students to attend the National Association of Black Journalists Annual Convention and Career Fair.
MABJ is also making strides to help improve the Memphis community. In 2005, we hosted the National Association of Black Journalists Region VI Conference. The event was well attended and received great sponsorship from the community. Working journalists attended professional development workshops. Area students got critiques from the experts in the field and some even got job prospects at the career fair.
We’ve had a successful run these last few years, but the race isn’t over yet. It’s only beginning! Help us reach our full potential. Join MABJ today and make a difference.
